Nuthatch
- A nuthatch’s favorite tree is an Oak
- There are 24 different species of nuthatches in the world
- It’s nickname is the upside down bird as it likes to walk headfirst down tree trunks while searching for food
Robin:
- Robins are omnivorous and enjoy eating everything from fruit to spiders
- Mealworms tend to be their favorite food
- The American Robin is the state bird of three states
Cardinal:
- Cardinals are classified as granivorous meaning they live on a diet of seeds
- The average lifespan of a cardinal living in the wild is 3 years
- Another name for the cardinal is the Virginia nightingale
Blue jay:
- Blue jays normally fly between 20-25 miles per hour
- This family of birds is considered one of the smartest animals on Earth by scientists
- Blue jays are not actually blue! The blue color you see is a result of distorted reflections off their feathers
Tufted Titmouse:
- These birds usually live in tree holes created by woodpeckers
- Tufted titmice are usually less than 6 inches in height
- Known for being active, these birds are often seen hanging upside down while searching under branches for insects
