All About TRAILBLAZERS

A special component is Trailblazer Choice! Every Wednesday morning, Trailblazers have “choice activity” time where they’ll choose areas and activities which they want to specialize in. Options may include: pony rides, archery, climbing the tower (rising 3rd graders), crafts, nature walks, sports and so much more!

Campers are divided by gender and have about 16 campers in each group with 2-3 staff members.

All Trailblazer Campers have swim lessons led by our American Red Cross Lifeguards who have additionally been trained as Swim Instructors. Trailblazers also have recreational swim time.

Critical Thinking

Our Trailblazers are working hard to develop 21st century skills that will help them throughout their lives. Through practicing sportsmanship, using imaginations during arts & crafts, exploring the nature playscape, and teambuilding Trailblazers are thinking outside of the box and beginning to reason objectively.

Decision Making

Making decisions can be a challenge. Offering the 2nd - 3rd graders the opportunity to make decisions in a safe setting allows them to experience the process, observe the effects, and think about what they'll do next time.

Comprehension

Trailblazers are beginning to have life experience to draw from, they are learning what their interests are and have opinions to share. Our 2nd and 3rd graders are building off previous experiences to help them practice things they love, and provide the confidence to try new things.

Self Control

Practicing self-control at camp allows our Trailblazers to see how their actions and words affect themselves and their group. Being able to recognize their feelings throughout the camp day gives them the opportunity to practice making positive choices.

Fine & Gross Motor Skills

2nd and 3rd graders are ready and eager to continue developing their motor skills. They spend their days playing games, running, jumping, horseback riding and swimming to help develop their gross motor skills. Fine motor skills can be strengthened through making friendship bracelets, fuse beads, playing the ukulele, and super fun handshakes.

Personality Growth

2nd and 3rd graders participate in activities that improve their awareness and identity, they focus on personal talents and continue to develop their potential in areas they find enjoyment. As campers discover their interests, they will be urged to try new things, challenge themselves, and step out of their comfort zones.
